Liminal

This is Liminal. The show where each episode is an artistic journey through the fluidity of living and loving. This is a space where we embrace and explore transitions. Those nooks and crannies of life that are sometimes prolonged, other times fleeting, occasionally profound or quite the opposite, seemingly forgettable – but there’s no way around it. Liminal spaces are transformative and they’re everywhere. They are the boundary between who we once were, who we are, and who we are becoming.

Well, how did I get there *David Byrne voice*

Many of you know I hosted the Sea Change Podcast for five wonderful years before the network it was hosted on abruptly shut down with no notice to the hosts of the 14+ shows featured on it. At the time I felt many emotions around the situation – do I push forward business as usual at the expense of my mental and physical health and become a podcast editor, producer, host, etc or do I allow myself some space to process and reimagine? The truth is, as much as I loved the show I didn’t have room on my plate to take on the additional responsibilities that were left in the wake of the rug being pulled out from under me.

So, I let go and I gave myself space.

I told myself I never had to pick up a microphone again if I didn’t want to and if I were to continue, I asked the podcast to show me what it wanted to grow into. Then I waited. I waited until I felt a pang of missing something, and that something was the seasonal poetry celebrations I’d produce in collaboration with Portland Poets Society. I missed offering a space for artists’ voices to be heard and for us to collectively navigate energetic and emotional shifts that come with transitions, life’s liminal spaces. And so Liminal was born.

I don’t know where this is going and now as producer, editor, and host, I am already learning a lot and have a lot to learn still but what I do know is I’m excited to be back and I hope you’ll join me in listening and contributing in this audio space where we come together in community to bond through these times that feel so transformative and transitional.

You belong here, welcome to Liminal.

Sea Change Podcast

Born from experiencing how much good and progress exists in the world - particularly the world of conservation - and noticing a major lack of coverage in the mainstream media, I picked up a microphone and got to work.

Since 2018, I’ve been using this platform to shine a light on the most interesting and inspiring people living, working, and recreating along the shorelines (and everywhere in between).

Typically, new episodes are released on the second Friday of every month. My goal is to explore the profound connections between humans and the natural world and delve into the transformative power of supportive communities.

Please note that in December of 2023, the network that hosted and produced the Sea Change Podcast, the American Shoreline Podcast Network, abruptly and unexpectedly shut down and ceased production of shows. I pour my heart and soul into these shows and intend to continue making them, however, I am taking some time to reimagine how I can make the most out of this platform after fledging the ASPN nest. If you have ideas, would like to collaborate, or pick the show up, please reach out.
